The female members of Parliament form a network that acts as a forum in which they can discuss political issues that affect women in particular irrespective of party lines. The network is coordinated by the Employment and Equality Committee.
The House of Commons and House of Lords have established Workplace Equality Networks (WENs) to provide an opportunity for groups of people to discuss and consider issues relevant to their situation or of interest to them. In particular, WENs can be useful forums for groups protected by equality legislation.
All-Party Parliamentary Groups (APPGs) are informal cross-party groups that have no official status within Parliament. They are run by and for Members of the Commons and Lords, though many choose to involve individuals and organisations from outside Parliament in their administration and activities.
The Women and Equalities Committee is holding an inquiry into actions by the House of Commons to make sure that it meets the needs of both women and men, and addresses equality issues, particularly as it relates to Members of Parliament.
