The Parliament has extensive elective powers. It chooses:

• - The Presiding Board and the Working Committees Board.
• - The President of the Generalitat.
• - The senators who are to represent the Generalitat.

It chooses and appoints:

• - The person who will act as Ombudsman.
• - The Members of Parliament who will defend the Members' bills presented by the Parliament before the Spanish Congress.

The laws of Catalonia also charge the Parliament with the responsibility for choosing all or part of the members of the most important institutions of the Generalitat (Advisory Council for Statutory Guarantees, Audit Office, Ombudsman's Office) and of other bodies, principally when they must reflect social and political pluralism (the Administrative Board of the Catalan Broadcasting Corporation, the Social Councils of the universities, etc.).
